BAD BABY PRESENTS: RULES CONTROL THE FUN (2017)

"What happens at Fringe, stays at Fringe."

Lark & Whimsy's second production, Bad Baby Presents: Rules Control the Fun, written and performed by Janelle Hanna, directed by Briana Brown and stage managed by Erin Vandenberg, premiered at the 2017 Toronto Fringe Festival. The play features Hanna’s clown character, Bad Baby, and beautifully explores failure and vulnerability. We received a rave review from Mooney on Theatre, who called the show “a wonderful reminder of how much we have to give to live our passion” and “a true Fringe gem.” Mark Kay of Torontoist wrote, “Bad Baby singlehandedly rescues the concept of meta-narrative at the Fringe” and named the show one of Torontoist’s Top Ten Picks of the Fringe, while Glenn Sumi of NOW Magazine cited Hanna as one of the Top Solo Performers of the Fringe. In the wrap of Fringe Coverage that year, NOW listed Hanna as one of the Fringe’s Outstanding Performances.

Janelle Hanna listed by Now Magazine as one of the Fringe's OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES in 2017

"Emotionally moving...flawless...a true Fringe gem." - Dustin George, Mooney on Theatre. "Bold and brave." - Glenn Sumi, NOW Magazine. "Janelle Hanna is a stand out comedy star." -Melissa Domingos, The Theatre Reader. "Bad Baby singlehandedly rescues the concept of meta-narrative at the Fringe...a genuinely winning, sometimes outright hilarious and awkwardly painful sense of humour." - Mark Kay, Torontoist.

finally, a huge Thank you

We are only able to take this show on the road thanks to the generosity of everyone who donated to our Indiegogo fundraising campaign. Their support helped us cover the cost of travel to and from Winnipeg and Edmonton, and without them, we would not be able to share this show with more audiences. They are truly indie theatre heroes!
